PRESS RELEASE
SEATWAVE SIGNS SPONSORSHIP DEAL WITH THE FLY MAGAZINE
EMBARGOED UNTIL 00:00AM TUESDAY 5th JUNE 2007
LONDON, June 5, 2007: Seatwave, the fan-to-fan ticket exchange, has signed a major sponsorship deal with The Fly, the influential monthly music and entertainment magazine. Seatwave will become the sponsor of The Fly’s ‘gig guide’, the extensive concert listing section of the magazine and will become the official secondary ticket exchange on their website http://www.the-fly.co.uk.
The Fly is a monthly music magazine distributed free throughout the UK at a variety of music venues and clubs and through music retailers including HMV and Fopp. It carries the most extensive listings of live music gigs in the UK and is the ‘must-read’ for live music fans.
Starting from the 1st July, the deal will last for two years. Going forward the guide will be branded as the ‘Seatwave gig guide’ both within the magazine and digitally on www.the-fly.co.uk. In addition to taking extensive advertising space, Seatwave will be the sole secondary ticket exchange within The Fly’s online activities. Seatwave will provide ‘buy’ and ‘sell’ buttons next to most of the concert listings on the website, allowing visitors to purchase and list tickets on http://www.the-fly.co.uk.
With the existing European secondary ticket market worth between £3.5 - £5 billion and the UK market currently worth around £1 billion, Seatwave will be able to meet the growing demand for event tickets by providing The Fly’s readers with a place to safely and securely buy and sell tickets for most UK events. Concert reviews and other content from The Fly will also be made available on Seatwave’s review and user generated content site; seatwaveblogs.com.
Commenting on the new deal, Joe Cohen, CEO and founder of Seatwave said: “The Fly is the monthly bible for hundreds of thousands of live music fans and is a perfect fit for the Seatwave brand. This sponsorship is about giving Seatwave customers access to The Fly’s unparalleled live concert reviews and giving readers access to the largest fan to fan ticket exchange in the UK.”
Jason Bick, Managing Director of The Fly, also commenting on the new deal added: “The Fly are delighted to be working with Seatwave. Our readers now have somewhere that they can buy and sell tickets in complete safety and in the knowledge that their transaction is fully guaranteed.”
