Led Zeppelin VIP concert tickets auctioned for charity on Seatwave, with starting price of £5,000
London, X November 2007, Seatwave.com, the UK’s largest online ticket exchange has today announced that three pairs of Led Zeppelin tickets for the one-off reunion concert at the O2 Arena in London, will be auctioned off on their website on Tuesday 13 November.
The three pairs of tickets with VIP after show party access for the Led Zeppelin, Ahmet Ertegun Tribute concert on 10 December 2007 will be going on sale with a reserve price of £5,000 per pair, making them the most expensive concert tickets in British history. Even at the reserve price, tickets by far exceed the cost of tickets sold for the Rolling Stones and Madonna concerts in 2006.
Tickets for the much-hyped event could reach in excess of £10,000 once bidding begins on Monday; with people working in the City likely to pay large amounts to see the explosive reunion of one of the world’s greatest rock bands. .
Over one million devoted fans applied for the 20,000 tickets following the announcement of the reunion concert which sold out in minutes. Three pairs of tickets will be available on Seatwave to those willing to bid high enough to watch the hard-rocking British band play for the first time in almost 20 years. Due to the stringent restrictions about the resale of tickets from the promoter, the three pairs of tickets to be auctioned on Seatwave are the only way of getting hold of the tickets. Seatwave is acting as a platform for the auction.
“These are the private jets of tickets” said Joe Cohen, CEO of Seatwave. “It’s a once in a lifetime opportunity, and we expect that the prices will reflect that”.
All proceeds from the auction will go to The Action For Brazil’s Children Trust (ABC); a charity dedicated to helping the most vulnerable children and young people of Brazil. Jimmy Page, founder of Led Zeppelin is the Founding Patron of The Action For Brazil’s Children Trust.
The legendary group, famous for their trademark riffs split in 1980 following the death of drummer, John Bonham and have not played together for 19 years. The concert is a tribute to Ahmet Ertegun, the late founder of Atlantic Records label who signed the group in 1968. Led Zeppelin have sold more than 300million albums worldwide and are best known for their songs ‘Stairway to Heaven’ and ‘Whole lotta love’.
