The Fan-to-Fan Ticket Exchange

PRESS RELEASE

V IS THE HOTTEST SUMMER TICKET

Seatwave reveals which festivals are set to be most popular in 2008

20 March 2008 – As festival fervour begins to mount, Seatwave, the UK’s favourite fan-to-fan ticket exchange, is revealing that the pull of Muse and the Kings of Leon is set to make V Festival Europe’s most popular festival on its site.

A preview of sales for this summer’s festivals on Seatwave puts V Festival in pole position in terms of early popularity with fans also eager to catch the likes of Amy Winehouse, Stereophonics and the Kaiser Chiefs playing in a muddy field.

Currently hot on V’s heels are Hard Rock Calling, where the Police will play the last UK gig of their reunion tour, and T in the Park which will see headline sets from the Verve and REM. But with tickets for many events yet to go on sale, including the ever-popular Reading and Leeds doubleheader, there’s still everything to play for.

Joe Cohen, the founder of Seatwave, says: “Festival season is great fun but it can also bring frustration, as official telephone lines jam, websites crash, and tickets sell out before most people can get their hands on them. With tickets going on official sale months and months before the events and line-ups often unconfirmed until much later on, many people end up with tickets they can’t use or don’t want, so exchanging them with other fans on sites like Seatwave is an ideal solution.”

More clever music lovers than ever are visiting Seatwave to buy must-have tickets from other fans rather than risking the uncertainty of doing business with dodgy touts outside the festival fence or falling victim to online frauds. Thanks to Seatwave’s leading consumer protection guarantees, fans know that each and every ticket exchanged is genuine and fully refundable in the event of cancellation.

Seatwave’s annual festival league table also shows that more tickets changed hands for the V Festival than any other in 2007 too. Close behind were the Reading and Leeds festivals, and T in the Park.

But it was Bestival that proved to be the hottest ticket of 2007 in terms of price, with fans of Rob Da Bank’s eclectic festival prepared to dig deep and pay almost double face value to get their hands on the elusive tickets. Foreign gatherings Oxegen and Roskilde also commanded a big premium, with festival goers exchanging hard-to get-hold-of tickets for high prices.

And for those looking for festival inspiration this summer, the Seatwave team has put together its pick of the hot tickets in 2008:

Best freebie festival: Rise Festival in London’s Finsbury Park offers a great anti-racism message and a free day out, all rolled into one with African music, theatre and food available in abundance.

Fancy dress fun: As ever Bestival looks set to be a sun-packed corker. This eclectic brainchild of Radio 1’s Rob Da Bank won the \'Best Medium Festival\' in the 2007 UK Festival Awards and 2008\'s line-up is headed by My Bloody Valentine. Aphex Twin, The Breeders, CSS, George Clinton and Funkadelic/Parliament, Gary Numan, The Human League, Pendulum, 808 State and Foals will also be heading to the Isle of Wight for the party.

Take a trip: Benicassim takes the festival cake and eats it too. What could be better than Spanish beach-side sun, food, a wide variety of music, including Babyshambles and Jose Gonzales, and tanned bodies a-plenty. Rock Am Ring is also worth the air miles with The Verve, Queens of the Stone Age and Swedish masters of metal OPETH there to provide the entertainment to accompany your sauerkraut.

Mainstream central: V is full of mainstream headliners. Muse, Amy Winehouse, Kings of Leon, Stereophonics, Kaiser Chiefs, The Prodigy, The Kooks, The Zutons, The Pigeon Detectives, Lenny Kravitz, Maximo Park, Ian Brown, Girls Aloud, and the Chemical Brothers are all set to appear. It\'s like one, big live MTV video show really.

Small and beautiful: The smaller fests hold the most promise for a chilled out, diverse smorgasbord of music and entertainment. Blissfields, Wickerman, Bloom, Beautiful Days, End of the Road, Green Man, Secret Garden Party, Peace & Love and Uppsala Reggae Festival in Sweden are just a few.

Cohen comments: “There really is something for everyone this year and no one needs to miss out on seeing their favourite band or discovering something new under the summer sky.”
