The Fan-to-Fan Ticket Exchange

PRESS RELEASE

BOYZ II MEN REACH THE END OF THE ROAD IN MANCHESTER

April 01, 2008 - As legendary boy band Boyz II Men prepare to play the last date of their UK tour at the Manchester Apollo on Thursday, Seatwave, the UK’s favourite fan-to-fan ticket exchange, is revealing that their popularity really has reached the End of the Road.

While Mancunians were initially excited at the thought of seeing Shawn Stockman and Nathan and Wanya Morris live again, with tickets changing hands for over £100 a piece, enthusiasm has waned and the average price for a ticket on the Seatwave site is now well under face value. In fact, the Boyz, famous for hits like ‘Motownphilly’ and ‘On Bended Knee’, are struggling to sell out their last UK date.

The disappointing sales in Manchester are in stark contrast with Boyz II Men’s incredible history, which has seen them sell close to 100 million records around the world, hit the top spot no less than five times between 1992 and 1997, and hold number one for an amazing thirteen weeks with End of the Road.

The band’s recent revival was spearheaded by a special guest appearance on the X Factor last November, but lacklustre demand for the UK tour has proved that some things should stay firmly in the past.

James Burgess of Seatwave says: “Boyz II Men may be the most successful male R&B group of all time, but sales for their Manchester concert, and in fact their tour as a whole, show that the fans really don’t love them again as they loved them before.”
