The Fan-to-Fan Ticket Exchange

PRESS RELEASE

SEATWAVE SOLD FIVE PER CENT OF SEATS AT HATTON\'S VICTORIOUS HOMECOMING

May 27, 2008

Seatwave, the UK’s leading fan-to-fan ticket exchange, is today reporting that five per cent of the 55,000 sell-out crowd at last weekend’s Ricky Hatton homecoming fight bought their tickets through its site.

This statistic clearly shows the high demand for Seatwave’s service, which allows fans a second chance to get their hands on must-have tickets to high-profile events.

Joe Cohen, founder and CEO of Seatwave says: ‘Hatton’s homecoming fight was a clear indication of a thriving secondary ticket market, and a great example of fan power! With five per cent of seats in the stadium being exchanged on our site, that’s nearly 3000 fans who were able to see Ricky triumph in his home town thanks to our service.’

The tickets for last Saturday’s Hatton fight, his first since losing to Floyd Mayweather in Las Vegas last December, sold for an average price of £100 on Seatwave. The highest ticket went for just £630, compared with the staggering £3,050 paid to see the Las Vegas bout last year. A significant amount of tickets for Manchester’s fight have even sold below face value.

These falls in price can in part be attributed to the high number of tickets available on the secondary market for the fight which has increased supply and thus brought prices down.

Cohen continued: ‘This fight also showed us that when a large amount of fans are able to sell their tickets on sites like Seatwave, a busier market is created, supply is increased, and prices fall. This is great news for fans desperate to see heroes such as Hatton in action.’
