PRESS RELEASE
TAKE THAT FANS NEVER FORGET
June 04, 2008
As Boyzone becomes the latest reunited boy band to take to the stage with a much-hyped tour, Seatwave, the UK’s favourite fan-to-fan ticket exchange, is revealing which former heart-throbs still have it and which don’t.
In a head-to-head comparison, Take That triumphed over other old-timers Westlife, Boyzone and Backstreet Boys. In fact, for every single Boyzone ticket sold on Seatwave, five were sold for Take That’s tour. The boys also outsold Westlife by a ratio of two to one, and the Backstreet Boys by a whopping eight tickets to every one bought on the site.
Tickets for Take That’s Beautiful World tour also claimed the highest premium with eager fans paying up to £610 to see Howard, Jason, Mark and Gary strut their stuff on stage. Ticket prices for the other three tours only climbed as high as £250, proving that Take That fans really were more willing to prove how deep their love is for the boys.
Boyzone recorded the biggest flop, with well over a third of tickets for their much talked about tour selling under face value. The lowest price paid on the site was a mere £16.
James Burgess, Chief Marketing Officer, Seatwave, says:
“Our site is a great barometer of what’s hot and what’s not, and our boy band league shows that Take That are definitely back for good in the hearts of fans. Ronan and the gang haven’t proved so popular, with a huge amount of tickets selling for well under face value. Take That were the UK’s favourite boy band 15 years ago, and they still are today.”
